What a great tourney with fanastic player spirit & fun; i had a PB & was leading after round 1, but it didn’t last & the 09 Sparks Summers Sizzler champ is Luke Williams.
 
Players were welcomed to the course by a new sign & the park was mowed & cleared of branches, looking good even in the rain. The morning weather was cool, windy & raining so players voted for a later start & went to nearby markets for coffee. Those who believed the weather forecast & stayed indoors were led astray, by mid morn the rain had stopped. The course had baked for the last fortnight so the rain soaked in quickly & didn’t cause slippy tees or slow up rollers. The day remained cool, sunny & windy, ideal for disc golf in summer !!

Three Australian players represented Australian Disc Golf at the 2009 Asia Disc Golf Open in Taipei, Taiwan this weekend. There was a field of 72 players from Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Sweden, USA and Australia. Dave Bandy flew the flag well tied for 8th place with Erich Altoray from Sweden.Chris Finn and Paul Arden placed 22nd and 23rd place respectively. Windy conditions and 150-class play made for an especially challenging event. More detailed write up and photos will be posted in the near future (after competitors have reovered from their long plane rides home).

Just a quick update on a few up and coming Disc Golf events:

13th September – Dardy Cup (Perth)

11th/12th October – Bring Spring Fling (Canberra)

25th/26th October – ADGC (Sydney)

Tournament directors Kurt Karlsson and Albert Munoz and Club President Luke Williams would like to invite you to play at this year’s Sydney Disc Golf Open (an Australian Disc Golf A-Tier National Tour Event).

Both days will be held at the Sydney Olympic Park Disc Golf Course, Newington Armory.

There will be 2 rounds of 18 holes of disc golf on Saturday and 1 round of 24 holes for everybody on Sunday (followed by a final 12 holes for all division leaders after lunch). There will be a mix of permanent holes, modified permanent holes and new ones using portable targets. There will be new challenges for everybody!
